@taurusgirl65 I fully agree. Donald really was foolish in that one and REALLY deserved to feel as crummy as he did at the end of that one. I think he didn't even know that it was his birthday that day.

Shame the sound is out of sync because while there is a synched version elsewhere on YT this one has way better color.
Carl Barks himself worked on this as a writer and it was nominated for an Oscar. Barks reworked and modified the story somewhat for an 8 page comic book story in 1949, that was translated and published and republished all over the world for decades.

@taurusgirl65 Donald also did the same thing at the end of 1949's "Donald's Happy Birthday" after he forced his nephews to smoke all the cigars, before realizing that the cigars were a birthday present for him.

The nephews could have tried telling Donald it was the holidays, but he probably wouldn't believe them. I wish I could see an extension in the ending where they chase Donald like a cat chasing a mouse and they hit at him with a wet broom.
