'The Lives of others' was a masterpiece. 'The Tourist' was an entertaining style exercise but nothing more than that. I'm absolutelu convinced the best is yet to come. This guy has the right philosophy and all the skills of a great film maker. He's erudite, has a solid brain and knows exactly what he wants. Hopefully Hollywood won't dilute his substance. I am rather confident this will not happen.

I still think it's better to make your mistakes on short films and make sure you're prepared for your first feature. Features are so long and energy-sapping that you also have to have to get a taste of what that will feel like (by working on shorts). You only get one chance to make your first impression. Maybe he's just a genius.

This is some of the best advice on filmmaking I've ever heard. Students who get these hefty grants end up dropping upwards of 30 thousand on 30 minute films it's ridiculous. Learn the technology, exploit people and stay focused and you can make a good feature for that money.

Put the guest's name first in the title of your videos, silly. Your videos all have the same truncated title when viewed by subscribers.
