Additionally, in regards to the opening, it was because someone was worried that I might think he was trying to copy my avatar with his build. :P Note that I condemn blatant copy and theft, but it's perfectly understandable if your style mimics another designer's.
UPDATE: Note that I will regrettably no longer be continuing my avatar tutorials. I was hacked several months ago, in February of 2009, by the group known as Dwi'Tek and, due to other complications as well, forced to abandon Second Life altogether.
I hope what I have made has helped you all so that many avatar designers may take my place.

I talk fast and get a lot of flak for it but I think its harder to follow. when your trying to learn something slower makes it a little easier to follow. I get what your doing here but I guess I need a reference sheet when I go to actually try any of this out.
Hence why I'm not using the textures made here. Avatars, at more advanced levels, are more based around texturing, not building. <_< Besides, this is a tutorial. Go grief somewhere else.

XDD. JK.
I'm sorry but you could have just used your current head and put new ears on it and gotten the same result.
I really don't see any influence of a bat in it besides the ears.
