As chuvas que atingem a região de Piracicaba (160 km de São Paulo) desde o início da semana causam transtornos à população e provocaram a elevação do nível do principal rio da cidade
O rio Piracicaba chegou ficar com três metros acima do seu nível normal e nove bairros foram atingidos pelas enchentes. A cheia do rio alagou a Rua do Porto, tradicional ponto turístico da cidade.
Segundo a prefeitura, além da cheia do rio Piracicaba, que corta toda a cidade, a chuva afetou também o rio Corumbataí. Os bairros mais atingidos foram o Algodoal e Vila Rios. Dezenas de pontos de alagamentos provocaram a interdição de ruas e pontes, desvio do tráfego de veículos e alteração de rotas de linhas do transporte coletivo.
