  • Salam alaikum and jazak'Allah khair for the videos you have provided.

May I ask if it is necessary to prolong the recitation in certain areas? For example, this reciter prolonged it at Yada, but I've also heard the surah as a whole recited at a quicker rate by reciters that are considered valid. Is it a general rule that you can prolong your narration for any surah? For example, some reciters recite Bismillah ar-rahman etc. quickly and others do not. Peace be upon you.

  • @09Discovery wa aleykum Selaam wa iyyakum

Thank you for your question, may Allah bless you for trying to improve your knowledge. I am not 100% certain because I have also heard some qaris who recite this portion quickly, however I don't know why there seems to be an allowance for that. From what I know, the letter alif at the end of yada has a necessary prolongation (equal to 3 alifs) because the next word begins with hamza ('Abi)

  • If you google "Tajweed Rules for Quran Recitation" then click on the 4th choice, from scribd, there is a nice explanation for some of the various rules.

There's nothing there about exceptions though and I have heard a lot of very respectable Qaris and Imams neglect that prolongation, so there must be a reason inshAllah. I do try to prolong this when I recite it though because I haven't learned those exceptions.

  • Salam, can someone please tell me who this reciter is?

  • @naely123 wa aleykum Selaam naely... I am not 100% sure, because I didn't record it at the time I uploaded, but I believe the reciter is Husary. If somebody knows differently then please correct me... JAK.

You can listen to other recitations with him (and other qaris) through quranexplorer(.)c o m or tanzil(.)net
