too all those saying this is not appropriate: the stotram itself is set in the indian classical raaga and beats then added to it. i agree that giving a pop feel to it is inappropriate, however, some supporting music is not too bad. afterall, its a devotional hymn, so anything that makes a devotee lose his self and feels connected to the lord can only be good. that being said though, i am totally against modifying "potent" mantras such as beeja mantras or gayatri in this way. that MUST stop!

DON'T label this video "classical" because it 's a fucking lie.
You ASSHOLE.

@Manoj85 I agree. I know where this is from. A charlatan called Kalki (aka Vijay Kumar aka Amma Bhagavan) who claims to be God and has fleeced millions of poor and middle class Indians -- his team has created these catchy CD's which he sells -- one of his many many gimmicks.
IIRC, someone's added another track to it, but its several years since I've heard this. All that music had a terrible energy associated with it -- gave it all away.
I dont like the feel of this
This is a mockery to our tradition
Some things shudnt change

I think it is a really ingenious way of mixing both the music. The pop track actually mixes superbly with the indian one and produces a relaxing effect.
The original tune is a slight varaiation sankarabharanam raaga. If you observed the mixed music is also of same raaga. Tune wise there is nothing new in this except that we have a new instrument with a faster beat.

I don't think devotional music should be given a pop music flavor. It just takes the element out of it.
