They did see Jimi the night before they wrote the song, but i don't believe there is any reference to Jimi actually playing the riff. They may have gotten it from something similar he did in some jam, but...

Oh don't fall into that trap, there is just as much great music out now as there was then, but you have to look for it. Don't turn on popular radio and expect to hear anything but product (that's what its made for, not for people to be creative).

giv it up to the gods.... things are a lot different now with tecknology...no cracking on records ect....nd modern musicians just dont have the drive to be creative these days.....today its all about the speed in ur riffs n how distorted you can go.....couldent belive things would go so down hill....

cause there is, weather it was hearin a riff n moderating it or being showed it... gota remeber the there we only had black n wite tv, n electric guitar lessons? everbody was infulenced by eatchother... i mean look at hjow many covers jimi did... we were goin to gigs too at the threat board and how these master craftsmen moved their hands, every flick bend and slide was new...
