ANTONIA Trailer

On the outskirts of São Paulo, four black women have been singing together since youth, fighting to fulfill their dream of making a living off their music. They form the rap group "Antonia", find a manager, and become a hit performing in bars and at parties. But, just as the dream seems to be coming true, their hopes are shattered by the daily events which accompany poverty, prejudice and violence which threaten the group and place their friendship in jeopardy.

They were all beautiful and radiated confidence thru their emotions onto the screen. Lena played by Cindy Mendes was my favorite. Shes so captivating and exceptionally beautiful and I related to her the most. I think any woman (especially an afro/black girl), will relate to any of them and choose their favorite as the film progresses.

This film was wonderful and so real. No fakeness in acting, you see raw emotions. Its hardly ever that you see young afro girls demanding the screen. You actually get a glimpse of real brazilian culture even though you do not speak a word of portugese. These girls are captivating and left me wanting for more.
