Begin The Conversation is a public education initiative sponsored by Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter to encourage individuals to identify and communicate their health care choices.

This campaign aims to raise awareness for everyone. At any time, people of any age may be unable to communicate their health care choices as a result of injury or serious illness. This process, called advance care planning, encourages identifying and understanding possible care options, talking about decisions with loved ones and doctors and putting those plans in writing to be ready if needed. Having a plan makes it easier to ensure that your wishes will be honored.

Hospice can often be likened to the proverbial 'elephant in the room'. Our primary goal is to help make talking about it less intimidating for our patients, their families and others who will one day benefit from having a conversation with their loved ones.
