Rumors abounded that Komputer was actually Kraftwerk in disguise. As Komputer's first two EPs were dead ringers for Mssrs. Hutter and Schneider's historical templates, it's easy to have made such a mistake. Mirroring groove for groove and blip for blip, vocalist David Baker sing-speaks Komputer's techno-pop fascination with Bill Gates, automation, and geography in the same Vocoder-inflected monotone ol' Ralf H. soldered onto many a surging power plant beat.

Granted, Komputer might not have the crackling inventiveness laid down by its Krautrock ancestors. Yet THE WORLD OF TOMORROW, Komputer's debut album ( 1998 ) exudes not only a quaint charm but also a fairly sharp predilection for melody and an obvious taste for metallic digi-rhythms. The caressing buzz-and-bop of "LOOKING DOWN ON LONDON " and "Valentina" twirls the lobes a notch or two, and "Komputer Pop" is simply, well, ravishing sequencer bubble-gum nonstop. Until the 'Werk plugs into the network again, list Komputer at the top of your hit parade for endless doppelgangin' pleasure.

As they rap gently over planet-rocking beats and against the up-the-down-escalator Stockhausen symphonics, it's hard to believe that this duo of technicians earned their music degrees in England, not Germany or Japan..."

  • met i start counting when i lived in london in the late 80s, did`nt know who they were at the time...lol i was sitting talking to dave and i notice a synth in the corner of the living room..i said "oh do you play"...lol he just said yeah :0) when me and my brother got home he put Translucent hands on, and said that was the guys we visited that day.

enjoy Fortran 5, they have been very fluid with musik very hard to pin down, always full of style...Great sound :0)

  • @sonicattack77 I'll listen into it.

  • Komputer! Thumbs up to Bellerob.

  • @alwerks1 thanks!

  • Has got many similarities with Tour De France. Can you post "The World of Tomorrow", "Terminus Interminus", "Motopia" and "We are Komputer (Version)" here on youtube? that would be very nice.

  • @technik56 I could. However, I make videos with the music I upload. From all kinds of artists. But in the near future I will definitely upload another track ( or tracks ) from Komputer.

  • @terryhfs Much better as I start Counting! :)

  • There's two of them, not three. And they used to be known as Fortran 5 and before that I Start Counting. It's hard to see how anyone could mistake those accents as being from Dusseldorf.

  • Danke!

  • super, super, super, diese Musik bleibt im Kopf, so richtig nach meinem Geschmack und tolle Filmaufnahmen von London. 5***** Sterne für dich
