Conflict resolution expert Richard Rubenstein examines the motivations behind what he terms "Islamophobia," or expressions of fear or hatred towards Muslim culture as a whole.

-----

Richard Rubenstein speaks at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, CA.

In his latest book, "Thus Saith the Lord," Rubenstein studies how God of the ancient Israelites has influenced how we resolve conflict, and created the foundation of the American judicial system.

Rubenstein is a former director and current faculty member of George Mason University's Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution (ICAR), the nation's oldest and largest graduate program in conflict studies. An expert on religious conflict, terrorism, and methods of resolving serious international and domestic disputes, Rubenstein has lectured throughout America and Europe on topics ranging from the philosophy and practice of conflict resolution to the war on terrorism and the current conflict in Iraq.

  • u wana understand islamophobia?

    9/11. Thats it.

Never had anyone came and told me my religion is evil until 9/11 came about and the propaganda machine started churning

  • @triplesixinthisbitch Now you may disagree with their interpretation of the Qur'an, but it simply isn't rational to turn a blind eye to the fact that their actions were in fact influenced/determined by their beliefs, or that the Qur'an, the Bible, and in fact the holy books of many world religions--seem to condone/recommend some pretty awful things!

  • @triplesixinthisbitch I don't think it's "Islamophobic" to point out the fact that certain of the terrorists actions are in fact condoned in the Qur'an and that they believe based on the Qur'an that Allah will reward them in the afterlife for their actions.

  • This guy has never read anything by Al Qaeda, clearly. Eg, in the "Al Qaeda Reader" it sets out very clearly their thinking of why they fly planes into buildings.

  • What a load of undiluted hateful bollocks!

  • Rubenstein wrote an excellent book, "Aristotle's Children" but the last 7 pages were pure academic tripe. The 290 pages before that refute everything he asserted in this video.

Rubenstein, I conclude, has virtually no integrity.
