Are religious people really so embarrased of their own faith based belief systems that the best insult they can think of to put down atheism is to call it "a religion"?

Perhaps you do not collect stamps? Do you call not collecting stamps a hobby?

@glitcher21 It simply boils down to this: religion is a contrivance which has the basic purpose of using any sort of belief system to put the will of the people in the hands of the rulers. And therefore it must follow that atheism must also by "them" be relegated into a religion and infiltrated. As it always has been throughout the history of humankind. And this is why God has nothing to do with religion. Current has simply converted to the newest one: Atheianity & it's infiltrators.

@qt4lo @qt4lo While you are correct on my misinterpretation of the meaning of the word "hypocrite", I must respectfully disagree with you when you say that atheism is a religion.

We do *not* adhere to any specific set of beliefs, and therefore are not a religion. If atheism is a religion then bald is a hair color.

@glitcher21 "hypocrite" is from the ancient Greek language: It meant an actor. So the word in the modern usage means one who is not what he or she seems. All religions have had hypocrites in their midst as an infiltration to control from within. this is why they are all ceremonial: the impostor only has to go through the motions and the members imagine them to be very devout. All religion is used by the state to control the masses. Atheism is just another religion, real Christianity is not.
