  • I believe that this was from an album in which Beverly also recorded "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Love" - my favourite version of that song ever... even better that Jeanette McDonald/ Nelson Eddy. Would you by any chance be able to post that one as well?

  • I will check it out, Palmerito, but I am not sure this is from the same album. If it is, I will post and let you know. Thanks, I love it too. C.

  • Beverly Sills nickname was "Bubbles." She had such a charming personality on television. I'm sorry I never got to meet her.

  • You would love her biography, zeekwolfe. She was truly "Bubbles". C.

  • Lovely,

Anna Moffo also sings this and it's a wonderful recording with Skitch Henderson.

  • Yes, Hound,,Anna Moffo is lovely, too. Thanks for the comment. C.

  • Ridiculously beautiful.

  • The story goes that when she finished this recording, the orchestra rose to their feet and applauded in the studio!

  • @ceb2633 It is from the same album - Songs of Victor Herbert. One of my all time favorites.

  • Her tremolo almost completely gets in the way, but it is a special performance.

  • Simply amazing... a beautiful voice in the deepest emotion. God bless you for ever in Heaven!

  • @Palmerito yes, this is from the recording done in the late 70's. all of the victor

herbert songs, including ah sweet mystery of life are there as well. when she had

finished recording this song the orchestra blew her a kiss! she was past her prime

at this time, but still truly wonderful!

  • Not sure that the tremolo in Sills's voice suits the seductiveness that the song should convey, but her rhythmic precision, tonal accuracy, and clarity kinda make up for it.
