A short traditional musical film based on Ugandan myths and folklore. Starring Essence Kasozi, Dickson Kitamirike and Nsubuga Mayombwe; Written by E. Kasozi and Directed by Kaz Kasozi.

Shot entirely on location in Uganda, this short film was a primer in preparation for a full feature; expected finance for the full feature fell through and so a full film is yet to be produced although the script is developed. The producers are seeking associate patners to work on the full feature.

As well as being a primer, the project was an experiment in recording of traditional instruments on location and all the music featured was primarily recorded on location in Uganda largely using traditional instruments [almost 90%] and allowing natural sounds to "leak" into the soundscape. The film features several songs including Nsaliddewo Ddala by Essence Kasozi which is also on her 2007 album "Ansudde Ddalu" available online from iTunes, CD Baby or a good record shop near you [UK, Canada, US only]. Performers featured in the music include Herbert Kinobe, Kaz Kasozi and various members of the cast.

Filmed in Kungu, Matuga; Muyenga quarry, Kampala and Mwera in Kakiri.

  • @Monsterxjelly no one forced you to watch it i believe!

  • I was reading earlier that the first Buganda king or kabaka was named Kintu. It is said that from Kintu, who ruled some seven centuries ago, is the progenitor of the Baganda. I presume this movie is related to him in some way?

  • Ys its kind of related to that except it relates the more mythical version of the tale as opposed to historical facts.
