How I do the cast on (I cheat, do whatever cast on you like on two other needles and transfer to DPNs), joining and the 1x1 ribbing.

  • Okay I knitted a sweater once way way bak like in 1984.... but I never seen anything like this.. not that I know much.. I mean are you actually knitting two separate socks at once so they are the same exact size .. one inside the other? I'm totally fascinated here....makes me want to pick it up again but my gosh I would have no clue where to start nor do I have anyone around that would even enjoy it with me.

  • @Ishkiia That's what's going on. I think I take them apart in part 3. My sister knows crochet and taught me but I had to learn knitting off TV and internet. For me it's like hunting, something I want to be alone while doing. A sweater is a pretty major deal, I'm sure it would all come back to you.

  • This is off the chain! I've never seen this before in my life and I've been knitting a long time! You are so cool! I'm totally gonna try this out! Now if only to figure out how to do two at once toe-up then I would definitely bow to you!

  • @makichandes You should join Ravelry.com and get on the Double Knitting group. There's a lot of people doing some amazing stuff there. With you doing color work I'm sure you would love it.

Toe up is possible but rearranging after increases is a little more hassle. You may have to cast on, work some rows on each then then transfer. I think someone asked on the Ravelry group but I don't know if there was a better answer.

  • Wow...I haven't picked up knitting needles in at least 40 years...so this was a bit confusing but fun to watch...:-)

  • @GreatGig1 My niece saw me doing this and just said, "No way". That was just because of the DPNs. She flipped when I pulled the inside out.
