Self-Driven Slot Car Prototype

This is a prototype self-driven slot car in action. Nobody drives the car, the track voltage is fixed (12V). During the 1st lap the unknown track is mapped, using a build-in accelerometer (left/right head light indicates a left/right curve detection)
During the following laps the car drives at a high speed using the knowladge of the track shape (head lights indicate acceleration, break lights indicate breaking).

Is it possible to program your accelerometer to speed up and slow down at certain points like an actual person was at the controller? I was thinking about some sort of computer where I could input actual voltage changes on the track for 20 laps or so, then be able download them and race against myself. Does that make sense?

This car finds the points to speed up and slow down ourselves measuring the accelerations. Your approach is good, but note that you need some synchronization poins on the track - while lines or infra-leds to be detected, or just the accelerometr.
