  • Well, I was there...probably not until Nov '81 or so. Tyrones charged a whopping $2 cover charge (I have the posters to prove it). Thanks for reminding this 45 year old what it was like to be 19 again. These are amazing - next best thing to a time machine - THANKS!!!! (I love the Internet!!!)

  • are there any pics online that shows what tyrone's actually looked like, inside or out?

i saw the brick foundation when i was in Athens...yes, we went to see the fn brick foundation for what used to be Tyrones...geeeeks.

  • Do I know you? I owned all of this at one time; had tons of bootlegs. I parted with it all years ago (kicks self); a real treat to hear it again. Thanks for posting.

  • I traded with someone named Oren years ago...if that's your real name...

  • Where in God's name did you get this? It's phenomenal.

  • Most of my stuff has been from tapetrading, but oddly enough, I got this off of soulseek a few years ago...look on there - maybe you'll find it.

  • Thank you chout for compiling and posting. Well, time moves on and R.E.M. are no more, but thankfully there's a record of of these early days. Like a couple of others who have posted, I too was there and remember the $2 cover and quaking floor. Athens was sooo happening, and it's hard to describe just how good and how exciting R.E.M. was. And, they just kept getting better.

Anyone have similar recordings of Pylon, Love Tractor or Little Tigers? Art in the Dark?

  • listen, what do you hear? actual music. i am a freshman in high school and all i hear is shit about teenage pop stars. i consider that pornography.

  • Awesome stuff! R.E.M. and The Smiths are probably the only two bands that I go nuts for their live stuff. I bought this on cassette about 20 years ago from a bootleggers stand. It was titled "So much younger then." They were so wicked-cool back in those days.

  • Hey Hey Nadine reminds me a little of Bowie's 'Queen Bitch'.

  • Great shot of the band but why's Bill got a hard on?

  • wow so any elements of Burning Down have been used in later tunes. great post many thanx x

  • This musical artwork makes feel over 25 years younger. I'm at last happy to be 50 years old and counting on a revival.

  • Burning Down is amazing! They should have put it on Chronic Town along with Ages of You.
