This is how Ubuntu 10.10 (but also Fedora 14 and PCLinuxOS E-17) are behaving with the laptop MSI X410 which is using ATI X1250 and chipset AMD RS690M

  • @TableWolfMusic Okay I have tried this with ubuntu 11.4 using wubi and it works perfectly. Must have been a driver issue now resolved. Enjoy!

  • if you want i can help you

  • Hi. Im getting one of these soon. Will let you know what happens but I have a few questions to help you solve it. I have seen this sort of distortion due to video card interference before. Are you running netbook edition? I recommend trying the long term support version 10.4LTS as it will be tended to over 4 years, increasing your chance of sorting this out. I presume you have enabled resttricted drivers from ATI. Is that the case? Also, unlike nvidia, ATI can quite often have community drivers.
