We like to say that we joined the EDSA People Power revolt for our children and our children's children. Well, what do our "children" think of those four days in February when we stood on top of the world and faced down a ruthless dictator?

The Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) asked some students at the University Belt what they thought of Edsa 1986. We chose college students because they are supposed to be the better informed and politically conscious. These are the highlights of those man-on-the-street interviews. The students are mostly 20-22 years old, most of them studying in the historic Mendiola area, just a few steps away from Malacanang.

  • TANG INA THIS

  • @frapplenz We should try to look deeper into the problem. It's too easy to blame the students, or the youth in its entirety, because they are the result of what the society has gone through for the past years. It's not just EDSA; I'm talking about the Filipino culture per se. The country is in a continuous struggle in learning its identity since the Spaniards colonized the country. That's why proper EDUCATION is the only way to resolve this. It starts at what we learn at school.

  • 1986 Revolution was a complete farce. It doesn't make me wonder that it's importance amounts to null.

  • I weep for our country's future T_T
