We wouldn't filly 55000 regularly enough to warrent doing it. If in the prem, we could get just over 40k most weeks as long as the price is right. The year we were relegated from the prem we sold out EVERY home game.
Apparently to make it 50,000 would cost the same as building a hole new stadium. I wouldn't put it past Cortese to build a new one, we got the money there.
With the new owners, if we do get regular premier league status again, then St Mary's will definitely get expanded. I reckon to start with 45,000 would be nice with the option for even bigger.
there is no way in hell Southampton could fill a 50,000 plus stadium, only maybe one game a season vs Portsmouth. Unless Southampton are challenging for the Champions League (not in a million years) this would not be viable
Hello, I don't know the reality of the situation actually in Southampton, and I'm wondering if it is interresting for the club to spend money to have 55.000 places. I mean, if they do, will there be really 55.000 people regulary in the stadium ? Thanks to tell me.
This is impossible design the Itchen cannot be expanded, only the northam chapel and kingsland were built for potential future extension, bringing capacity to about 52,000 (10,000 more in the kingsland and 5000 more in the chapel and northam stands). I for one could not imagine how immense that many saints fans in the northam would sound, especially combined with itchen and kinsgland corners.
that aint true we cant extend the main stand because it is to close to the road.
It is a nice design btw.
