PCC cars were almost a generation ahead of their time. What a development project it was. 80 years later, these cars still set the standard for ride, comfort, speed and quietness (IF the original PCC sandwich wheels are used). Sadly, in recent years, solid wheels have taken over in the name of cost savings. Just ride the Kenosha cars... solid wheels. They cannot afford the sandwich, quiet wheels. Sad..
That should be me sitting at the controls. When my time comes to pass. If possible, I want my ashes released on the tracks of the Russell Streetcar yards.
I must add, that I really like the Toronto CLRV's. They are a great descendant from the PCC. I hope their replacements are as good.
