As part of her "Saving the California Dream" series, Studio 11 LA investigative producer Heidi Cuda heads north to Siskiyou County, the state's fifth largest county. Farmers tell her they're under siege from government regulations, fighting for their water rights and fighting for their way of life.

  • I grew up on the property featured here.

  • When fish, plants and wildlife die....HUMANS DIE..LA is rich enough to use water sources closer to thier home.

  • Any truth in the rumor that most of the framers are Republican supporters? Might that explain the EPA onslaught

  • Decentralize Obama and his job killing cronies/policies.

De-fund the over reaching EPA and other redundant agancies, enough of this!!

  • It's all about government control of all our resources.

  • Well done Heidi. Looking forward to the rest of this series and perhaps those living in the cities can begin to understand what is happening to the "Rural America Dream". All should understand that this attempt to remove four hydroelectric dams that serve 70,000 homes is based on an ESA listing of a non-native fish that is illegal. Agriculture is the life blood of any country and they are attacking it in every way they can.

  • Thank you! This story that impacts ALL CA residents. As the farmers- ranchers are driven out of business, we all loose rights, access to CA fresh meat and produce. With dam removal & "rewilding programs", we will all get taxed and see raised fees! California Fish and Game is now trying to buy a ranch butting up to Dwinnel Dam there for $33 million (one of many). Why this one? So they can remove Lake Shastina, home to 22,000 residents. Water Bond of 2012 & Wildlands Programs = land grabs.

  • Save the fish........ yeah right...... my ass

  • Heidi, great job! I'm looking forward to watching the entire series.
