Track 7 from Siren Song of the Counter Culture

Are we so alone, so distant, so forgotten
As we think ourselves to be?
These are our lives, but did they ever even matter?
Are we worth remembering?

These machines feed on the tears
Of broken lives and dying dreams
We're throwing wrenches in the gears
Our lives will not be lived in vain

When this is all said and done
We spent this life on the run
Judged by the company we keep
(Judged by the company we keep)
Our language buried inside
These lungs that keep us alive
We breathe so selfishly

Promises we plan to break are made in whispered voices
Cause our despair knows many names
We make mistakes but we apologize with roses
We never stopped to smell on the way

These machines feed on the tears
Of broken lives and dying dreams
We're throwing wrenches in the gears
Our lives will not be lived in vain

When this is all said and done
We spent this life on the run
Judged by the company we keep
(Judged by the company we keep)
Our language buried inside
These lungs that keep us alive
We breathe so selfishly

We fell from the sky today
We melt into balls of clay
We sell ourselves everyday
Don't tell me how to live this way (live this way)

Pushed so far to the edge
We teeter just on the brink
You can lead me to the bloodbath
But you can't make me drink

As these machines feed on the tears
Of broken lives and dying dreams
We're throwing wrenches in the gears
Our lives will not be lived in vain
Our lives will not be lived in vain

  • @effinerika lucky you they dont come to michigan theyre the reason im taking guitar lessons and gonna start a band

  • I saw Rise Against last Sunday & lemme tell you, it was fucking life changing.

  • @alanihawaii123 true it's not about everything, but I think if I could use one lyric from them to describe them it would be from this song "These machines feed on the tears ... We're throwing wrenches in the gears, our lives will not be lived in vain"

  • These machines feed on the tears

Of broken lives and dying dreams

We're throwing wrenches in the gears....oh,sorry im too busy singing to come up with a good top comment

  • @hskbeOK: yes I did. =P funny enough, next to "This Is Letting Go", that's my favorite song on the album. I don't think they could write anything else like it.

  • @yellowhummer7: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAHAAAA!!! Your brother needs to get his hearing checked. Someone saying he can't sing is one thing, and that I've heard....saying he sounds like a f**king girl? That's the first time I've EVER heard that. I mean really? What the hell kind of female singers does he hang around? XD I'll be impressed if there's even a human out there that can sound like this.

  • @Manofsky2: to me this is the song that might have inspired "Prayer of the Refugee" because they're about similar things. No this isn't their best, but it really makes you think about they way America treats foreign immigrants/workers. "Our language buried inside, these lungs that keep us alive, we breathe so selfishly." (one of the best lines. =D) Also I don't think this sums up ALL Rise is about....just their strong stand on fair trade. Idt there's a song that can sum it all up.

  • @alanihawaii123 You forgot 'Disparity by Design', one of the more hardcore songs in Endgame.

  • beast
