Active Directory is really only a big deal for IT Professionals who work for businesses/schools/government agencies. It's a tool that helps manage and keep track of every user and computer connected onto your Domain network. Unless you're planning on starting your own company with 10+ employees or you're looking to get a job in the IT field, you really don't need to study it; especially if you don't like networking. I hope this helps.
