Skybound (Original)

Made with FL Studio 10, EWQL samples and Audacity.

I have always loved progressive rock; it's part of what got me into composing music in the first place. Here is my attempt at writing a prog song mostly inspired by 70s prog, among a myriad of other influences. My singing still isn't too great, but I gave it a shot anyway. All in all, this was a blast to write, and I'd love to do more prog tracks in the future (with less singing, perhaps). Compared to a lot of prog out there, this isn't all that complex, but I kind of like the simplicity. Be sure to tell me what you think!

The fleeting feeling slips away
You plummet fearless, helpless, down

And as you fall you realize
That all the doubts you left behind
Won't disappear so simply

@Chrom1um Actually, I wanted to go for the background choir thing. It's just that I've got minimal experience mixing vocals, and it's really difficult for me to find a good balance while making sure the lyrics are comprehensible.

I like it, a little "off the beaten path" from your usual stuff, but it seems. Vocal work is getting there, I think you just need a little more experimentation with it.

This is very different from what I've heard from you in the past, Kevin. Nice work with the distortion guitar here. I hate to chime in with others, but I'm not too keen on the vocals either.... Still, this is an impressive piece.
