WeDharma:Designer Violeta Villacorta in Cofán Community, Ecuador

Designer Violeta Villacorta travels back to the Cofán Community of Dureno in the Ecuadorian Amazon for a month in October to continue the creative project with the artisans.

A project in the Cofán Community of Dureno-Sucumbios, Ecuadorian Amazon. Designer Violeta Villacorta is working with Cofán artisans to promote their arts and crafts as a source of a sustainable economy for the community, a rich culture and people who live in harmony with Mother Nature.

The funds collected in July cover the materials and building of the Cofán Dureno Arts & Crafts Center, tools for the artisans, laptops, and development of accessories and crafts.

Funds are still needed to give every home in Dureno and other Cofán communities deeper in the Amazon, filtered water catchment systems that collect water from the daily rains and can supply each family with clean drinking and cooking water. A goal, among other needs, of the Cofán Community. Sustainability takes time in these areas that have been left on their own after the intrusion of extractive industries in their territories. We can give now, while they continue to flourish.
