  • Ray Ellis who arranged a lot of Mathis early stuff said He didnt know a good song from a bad one at first ,but his voice made them all sound special anyway.

I like him with Glenn Osser and Percy Faith, he made some nice hits with Conniff too.

  • Johnny had a lifetime of working with the best in the business. I get the impression the major musicians and songwriters of his day eagerly sought him out.

  • hi cybernautev!

thanks for the messages you sent. you know, i sent you an almost two-paragraph message here to thank you that didnt post.

  • Too bad! Unfortunately, there's a limit to the number of characters the system will take.

  • Wish I had time to do a Johnny Mathis " impression" CD just for you! Your videos really bring back memories for me.

    Luv Pete Peterki

  • Hi Pete,

Nice to hear from you. I wish you could (do that CD), too! You've done the best Johnny Mathis I've ever heard. You got the chops and the look. What a great project! You've already got a built in audience of all the JM fans on this site. Do it for them!

  • Of his many offerings to the world, this ballad, an admission of desire and longing, might be amongst the finest ever recorded. Mathis is in a class by himself. I treasure this one and "I Look at You."

  • As far as I'm concerned, this is the best love song that Johnny has sung. There's something eternal and out-of-this-world about the way he rendered it.

  • This is one of my favorite Johnny Mathis recordings. His voice is just perfect. He never hits a wrong note. I have been listening to his music since I was a teenager, back in the 50's. I have many of his original albums and feel so lucky to have grown up in an era with the kind of music that is simply unmatched in this day and age.

  • Out of 1,500+ songs that I've recorded, this is my absolute favorite!

  • Yes, "I look at You" is also right up there. I grew up with my mother playing this and a lot of Sinatra. I still love this music and always will. It is beyond time. He could be singing this in renaissance Venice and this will carry forward as I share this with the true romantics of now into the next century.

  • What a pleasant voice to hear Johnny Mathis

  • Hallo cybernautev. This is a very beutiful song. Johnnys voice sounds like nothing else in the whole world. Is it from 1958? I was 11 years at that time, and already

a fan of John Royce. We had no records, but on some foreign radiostationes I could listen to him and other american favorites. He has been my GREATEST FAVORITE all these years. Over 50 of them. Thank you for sharing.

    From Norway: Berit.

  • A fan informed me this song was composed by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans.

  • I SO LOVE this song! It will be my wedding song.

  • Was fuer ein wunderschoenes Lied. Ich koennte heulen vor Freude.

  • Thank you. I've been searching this song all the time. Finally, thanks again.
