No, only the phone calls go through bluetooth. Everything else it through the USB input. It charges whenever it is plugged in through the USB. I could have the phone in my pocket and be able to take calls through the bluetooth speakerphone, but I wouldn't be able to listen through the stereo that way since this particular Sony headunit doesn't have bluetooth. You'll have the best of both worlds if you get a head unit that has USB and integrated bluetooth.
