Like many of the racing experts from both coast stated(Crist,Christine,Pope,Na­ck,Hirsch,Finley,etc)and even stated by trainers Wayne Lukas &Woody Stephens, but stated the most correct by Paul Moran of Espn, "Easy Goer was the better,more phenomenal,extraordinary,outst­anding horse, but was defeated by a whisker and desperate neck in two races because Pat Day rode him like the exposed end of a live wire,rode him horribly." I agree totally.

I do think Easy Goer was the better horse, but the difference between the two was very marginal, and Sunday Silence is great as well, largely because he was talented enough to defeat the freak that was Easy Goer on 3 occasions - poor ride or not. I think Easy Goer may have had the most raw talent of any horse since Secretariat, but SS is not to be sold short.

That's right. Easy Goer's last race was the Suburban, ran another near track record performance while giving up like 12-18 lbs. to his rivals.

Easy Goer died extremely premature,after siring a few crops, still is/was sire,grandsire and broodmare sire to Breeders Cup Dirt Mile &Met Mile winner Corinthian,champion filly&Breeders Cup Juv.Filly winner Storm Flag Flying,Breeders Cup Juv.Filly winner My Flag,Travers&Whitney winner Will's Way,Furlough,Magical Fantasy,Funny Moon,Monba,Lion Tamer,etc. SS simply took over leading sire in Japan from Northern Taste,&where purses are significantly higher.All of SS sons,daugh. lost G1's in US&Europe

But Easy Goer, in talent,ability,constitution,sp­eed-stamina record combination, was always no doubt a top ten all time thorobred, as evidenced by his many,many top ten performances at every distance,6.5F,7F,8F,9F,10F,12F­, but the 2 typically atrocious Pat Day rides that got him beat a nose and desperation neck in 2 races vs. an-also great ss, put him down into the thirties where ss always belonged.
