i dont know what a fan edit means .dose it mean it be released on dvd .or is it people just edting themselves to show on you tube.can someone explain to me what it means .and if a "complete " emmett otter is going to be released for purchase ?

I'm assuming that someone is making their own edit, combining footage from both versions to make the longest version ever, and has made a trailer for it. I bought (and recommend buying) the official DVD, but I look forward to this version, too. Not sure how it's being distributed....

Boy, H.B.O. sure could pick em back in the days!! the specials of the 80's pretty much shaped my life to a certain degree.Emmet Otter is a staple of Christmas at my home. I was privilaged to have H.B.O. back in 1980 !!!

Edit Otter! Great idea to put all the parts together. I have bought every version dating back to the original VHS release and have been continuously disappointed to see more and more parts get cut out. The last 2008 release with the new artwork is the exact same disc from 2005... I wish they would just pay the extra money and get Kermit back! I would pay big money for a 100% complete Blu-Ray release, but the current DVD releases are only worth HALF OF FIFTY CENTS.... :P

every year my friends and i get together for a party we call the Emmet Otter Invitational... it's been 14 years now, and we're all in our late 30s, with kids... we all sing along, and have counter-lines, like Rocky Horror.
