it is a trip that even then these subtle truths were there, but nobody noticed. just like the last 60 years. suddenly now, now that is too late, we are waking up. they really pulled a fast one on us, didnt they? sick twisted bastards.

I remember reading this novel in college, it was a long book, like 600 pages. It was pretty good though, reflects the depression well.

The problem with capitalism in a nutshell. The man driving the 'cat' is actually a mercenary, engaging in an act of brutality, but he excuses his evil act because he is being terrorized himself. Until all men have a spiritual nature and cannot imagine themselves doing what this man is doing, capitalism will be the bane of civilization. It dampens spiritual evolutionary traits and promotes evil ones.
