After a nuclear holocaust, a group of scientists travel to the future and find a world in tatters, where the human survivors must constantly defend themselves against mutated beasts. Upon seeing the future of the earth, the men would like to return to 1964, but find it may not be possible.

Sixties fashions, goofy music, sci-fi gadgets, mutant skinheads, skinhead robots, sexism, a doctor with a monocle, and lots of bad acting--this movie has it all. Thumbs up!

Why are these mutated damaged people all running around wearing brown uniforms? Did they somehow manage to find an undamaged factory 100 years after a nuclear war with a huge stash of brown uniforms:)LMASROFL

@daverowbotham p.s. i was thinking more of NEXT GENERATION, with its android data, and better effects...the 60s origonal STAR TREK is also kinda cornball all these decades later, as are the clinging suits and flabby bellies of the first STAR TREK movie.

and the open mouth androids might have inspired the woody allen spoof SLEEPER, in which he pretends to be a robot with some metal piece in his mouth, with his supposed robot head ready to be removed at the factory.

@daverowbotham john hoyt, who was in a ton of sci-fi movies, is in THE TIME TRAVELERS----and the STAR TREK MENAGERIE episode, before they settled on Dr. McCoy.

For decades, there's been articles about star trek/forbidden planet connection, but there were also tv sci-fi shows before forbidden planet.

@monk22yrs err, Star Trek was first broadcast in 1966, 2 years later than this show. Incidentally Star Trek owes more artisticly to The Forbidden Planet than this film :)

@snuffythewomble this movie was pretty radical for early 60s, and for its budget ( under a half million dollars)....lots of effects, talk of space-time continuom, photon drive, androids....all the stuff of star trek shows of 20 years later.

@trojanthedog this low budget junk was responsible for the big budget junk of the last 20 years....the terminator and aliens movies, among others.

tim burton, george lucas, and steven spielburg probably saw this movie when they were teens.....all their big budget junk owes a lot to this small budget junk.
