Krikanova & Platov 1984 Junior Worlds FD

Krikanova (or Krykanova) and Platov are probably the most successful junior ice dance team ever in history because they won the junior worlds 3 times (in 84, 85, and 86). The partnership ended right after juniors though. This FD is definitely a product of its time. I'm guessing the last section was a tribute to Moiseeva & Minenkov (their 1980 FD).

I am really enjoying these early Russian vids. Provides a nice insight into skaters we only saw much later in their careers here in America. This girl is lovely, did she find any further skating success?

I don't think she did. Ironically, Platov said in a recent interview that the reason why they broke up is because she had 'outgrew' him. Yet it was him that found success afterwards, first with Larisa Fedorinova and later with Oksana Grishuk.

Interesting that they TOTALLY seem to emulate the style, costuming, and musical choices of Moiseeva and Minenkov--because I thought their choach, Mr. Gorshkov, was MoMin's archenemy...
