Stop the Mega Quarry - Michael Stadtländer on the loss of vital farmland

As part of our ongoing commitment to stopping the Quarry, we're working with Michael Stadtlander to support Foodstock 2011. On October 16th, 2011 we will gather 20,000 people on the remaining Melancthon farmland that did not sell out to the Highland Companies. Hosted by over 70 of Canada's top chefs from around the country, this event will celebrate Ontario's bounty of food and water and the connection between producers and consumers of local food. This isn't an issue that only affects the Melancthon township, this is an issue that threatens water and food security for a whole Province and Country. More and more of our land is being bought up by foreign interests affecting the ecology, the sustainability of our food supply and the future of our children.

When i went to show support for the farmers i found them to be more worried about loosing thier farms than stopping the megaquarry. This megaquarry will not be built on the haldimand tract, the Mohalk people would never allow it as this would be on thier land. Funny to see them trying to USE indiginous people to support them eventhough the farmers wont admit that thier farms are on Mohalk land. i suport the fact that this megaquarry should not be built but i do not support these rasist farmers.
