The F4 that shoot Cornel Toon" if he ever existed. Flew by Lt. Randy "Duke" Cunningham and radar operator Lt. William "Irish" Driscoll. This was the jet that shot down cornel toon and had a dog fight episode on the dog fight.

  • The actual F-4 that fired the missile was shot down by a SAM on it's way back. Duke and Irish bailed out.

  • In all likelihood, Randall Cunningham was lying about the whole thing. He showed his true colors as a congressman, that's why he's in prison.

  • @the2ndranger123 if you watch the Dogfights episode, the jet "Showtime 100" took an SA-2 Guideline SAM right in the back, it blew the entire rear flight-control surfaces off, they ended up spinning. Duke fought the jet to get it over the water, and barely made it.

That is actually Rambler 04 from Operation Bolo, an historic US Air Force mission to cull VPAF MiGs. The kill was by Maj. Phillip Combies with WSO Lee Dutton. They shot down a MiG-21 Fishbed, not a MiG-17 Fresco.
