From a 6 LP box set titled "Organ Magic" which was issued by Reader's Digest in 1977, comes this little treasure of a tune by musical chameleon, Dick Hyman. How it made it's way on to the compilation of straight-forward, anonymous organ music "for the masses" is quite a mystery. It's highly likely that someone made a mistake...
"Alfred the King of Disco" is nevertheless an irresistably funky organ number with rhythm and wah-wah effects reminiscent of modern electronica recorded by artists like Clark and Aphex Twin and released by labels such as Warp and Rephlex.

Dick knew what to do with a Baldwin organ. I wonder if this is one of the tracks he recorded in the early 70s on the Baldwin. BTW, do you have the track from this box set 'The Surrey With The Fringe On Top"? Love that pre-digital organ sound, even if it's a bit cheesy!
