Need help to fix problem of Typewriter Noisy Carriage Return. Only happens when I push the carriage return back by hand or use the carriage return lever. Life is Good!
It sounds as if the escapement rack is too deep in the escapement wheel pinion, there would be an adjustment to set the height at each end of the carriage, probably an eccentric screw with a lock nut.
I have a similar issue with my Smith Corona Classic 12, but I asked a specialist and he said that this is perfectly normal. Don't worry about it at all. :)
Don't worry about it, all three of my typewriters do it and just put lub on it and it works for mine and its very smooth for a couple of mounth and repet the step

Mine has the same problem. Look under the backside of the carriage. The tabulator causes it. It is rubbing against all the little pins.

Dear Cu.,
I'd say that that was a question best put to J.B Fletcher.
.
She would know.
