To let you know, this tutorial is pretty dang old/outdated (3 years now) and I shall be filming a new one before Halloween.

My very first of many fursuit/costuming instructional video tutorials: how to create feet and hand paws. *whew* That took forever to do. I hope I explained everything thoroughly enough to help you with your own costume. But as always, feel free to ask me any more questions! If there's anything you think I could improve for future tutorial videos, please let me know.

Enjoy and good luck with your own projects!

If you found this tutorial helpful, why not take a video of what you've done and add it as a video response so we all can enjoy it?

Part 1 of 2

Need more help drawing the top, side, and front views of your feet pattern? Here's an example that I sketched to show you one way how to do this:

It helps to have a good concept of 3D space when making costumes ^^'

  • is it bad that I'm ordering 5in instead of 3inch? :(

  • @metaknightftw1 5" is harder to cut and very expensive. It's much easier to buy 1" or 2" and layer it up to make it thicker where needed. It's not necessarily *bad* but it's not often the thickness of choice.

  • What is better ?

    Thick pieces of foam

    or thiner?

  • @Mosby67 Thinner, because you can layer thin pieces together to get thicker slabs... but it's extremely hard to evenly cut a thicker piece in half to make it smaller and you waste much more foam. If you're talking about density, I recommend higher density for more supportive structural pieces and lower density for filler or details that don't need much self support.

  • could i get most of this stuff from hobby lobby we dont live near any other craft store

  • @nobbyandfriends Yes, Hobby Lobby carries foam and some of them do have a small fabric section... you might get lucky.
