Fernando Ortiz on the marketplace and shark fins

Fernando Ortiz, Galapagos Coordinator for the Eastern Tropical Pacific Seascape (ETPS), Conservation International, offers his observations on shark finning and the challenge cultural traditions presents to marine conservation.

The ETPS supports marine conservation and sustainable use of resources in the national waters, coasts, and islands of Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Panama. The countries have agreed to seek support of international and regional organizations, including Conservation International (CI), to improve stewardship of their shared marine life and environment.
