I say this because I love you and there are souls at stake... Rob Bell is a false teacher. A heretic. He doesn't believe in a literal hell. He believes no one will perish. By that, everyone is saved. By that, everyone is a christian. Not so. God's judgement will fall upon us for heaping up pastor like Rob Bell to tickle our ears.

Um, Mr. Bell needs to go to a good seminary. There is a Hebrew words for spiritual. it is ruach, and another actually, the nephesh. Both of these are non-physical "spiritual" ideas

While "ruach" means "spirit" it does not mean spiritUAL. The point he is making is that the Bible doesn't compartmentalize different aspects of your life as if "spiritual life" can be distinguished from the rest of your life. You need to learn how to actually LISTEN to people.

Without having heard the whole sermon - just this bit - it doesn't sound like that at all to me. It sounds like it's destroying the sacred/secular and spiritual/physical divide our society holds as right, when in fact everything we do as people on earth is in the context of God's Kingdom.

Well, the Bible says that the natural man does not understand the things of the Spirit.(1 Cor. 2:14) So, evidently there are those who have the Spirit, and there are those who do not. The apostle Paul also makes dinstinctions between his spiritual nature and his constant battle with his carnal nature. Not everyone fights against their carnality bc not everyone is regenerated by the HolySpirit. It is God puts His Spirit in a man, which causes him to follow His rules and do good.(Ezek.36:27)

Yeah, in this context he isn't talking about "big S" Spiritual (or things to do with the Holy Spirit), just about the spiritual realm we occupy etc. and hence actions having spiritual significance - whether for better (as fruit of the Holy Spirit) or worse.

Jesus made it clear that everything we do has implications in the spiritual realm, either for good or for evil. That's what Rob Bell is referring to when he says 'everything is spiritual.' People who think that 'spiritual' means only good, and not evil, don't understand what Jesus and the apostles taught on this matter. There are 'good' spiritual forces and there are evil spiritual forces as well. God wants us to recognize the difference, for our own sakes.

If spiritual is not in the thinking of Jesus, how would Rob Bell explain verses where it says "God is spirit." If "God is spirit" is in the Bible, then "spiritual" is not that big of a jump.

He said no word for the adjective in Hebrew - NT is in Greek, and it's used by Paul etc. there. But what he's getting at is "spiritual" when it's used as opposed to "physical" etc., which is a Greek/Gnostic concept that is completely alien to a biblical worldview, and the NT spends quite a bit of space refuting that, kinda like Rob is here.
