Globalization is a complex topic which has affected the way people live and interact with each other all over the world. Since there are so many aspects of globalization as a whole, our group decided to focus solely on the way it has changed online communication and networking. In order to portray our ideas, we chose to emphasize the four subcomponents of Facebook, e-mail, online dating, and skype.
As a group, we interviewed several, random individuals on Auburn's campus and asked him or her what globalization meant to them, and how it has impacted their lives. We received various responses and point of views from each one. Their ideas were an important part of our documentary because it illustrated the common position shared by many and it reiterated our focus of online interaction. We also included voiceover recordings with our own interpretations of how each of the four subcompnents of online communication relates to globalization. Also, incorporated into the documentary are several short clips from popular movies like, "You've Got Mail" and "He's Just Not That Into You". Furthermore, we imported a number of short videos from YouTube into our presentation to add excitement, humor, and a colorful representation of online communication and networking. Globalization has changed the way people share information, stay in contact, meet dating partners, interact, and network with each other. It is through the development of these social utilities like Facebook, e-mail, online dating, and Skype that have replaced traditional means of communication. From these new advancements, we are able to connect with anyone, anywhere, anytime, in whichever form we choose.
