Hi :)
This synth jam session features two completely opposite synths. The mighty and powerful analog Jupiter-8 and the big sized (completely digital) Casio CZ-5000 phase distortion synth. The CZ patch is my newest programming for the CZ.
Synths : Roland Jupiter-8: synth bass and JP synth strings (new patch) Alpha Juno-1: synth 'arp' with the Korg EMX drum machine Casio CZ-5000: warm synth strings

  • Groovy! I am kicking myself in the butt, since I had the opprotunity to buy a Casio CZ 5000 last month for $120! (like maccagrabme, I was inspired to buy it because the awesome sounds you make!) and because i think it's cosmetically attractive :p. Anyway i didnt buy it because of the distance i would have had to travel...bummer :(. I ended up buying an Alesis QS6 instead...(i needed something multitimbral), but its so boring!!! slap me TSF!

  • @brightstarlit HI :) $120? Oh man.

Yes CZ has a unique and early 80s appearance, I like it too, sort of an instant flashback to the 80s when you see it. lol

Sorry to hear that it got away. Hopefully another one comes along soon, its an interesting, strange but retro synth, its not multitimbral though :( but instead it has its own little (basic) sequencer on it, good for ideas. I wish you luck in your CZ searching! :) Phase Distortion synthesis & 8-stage ENVs are neato.

  • what a talent ! I like your sound !

  • @maccagrabme Hi :) That's awesome you have the same CZ-5000 synth. I really like that it has a basic sequencer too. I'd rather have that then velocity of the CZ-1. hehe Here is the patch data, its just DCO-1 , Line 1+1. :) DCO: WF= 1, 0, R=50 L= 00 E. DCW: KF=7, R= 99,79,15, L=99,87 S,00 E. DCA: KF=0, R= 67,55, 26, 26, 50,50,50,50, L=68,99 S,00,00,00,00,00,00 E.

    R- RATE, L= LEVL. This patch is LINES- 1+1. (DCO-1 twice). Detune= 1, 00,50,00 , OCT= -1.

  • @TheSynthFreq Hi, I have a CZ5000, recently acquired, funnily enough on the strength of some youtube demos and yours! I would really appreciate the patch info, I have just discovered a free PC editor. I had a listen through some of the presets and they were disappointing so its refreshing to hear the potential of the synth. Its amazing how your string patch sounds better than many analog synths that I've heard. Many thanks, appreciated.

  • @maccagrabme HI :) Yes, it is 100% the Casio CZ-5000. Its one of the few sounds I have programmed for the CZ. I like Phase Distortion synthesis but I don't program the CZ as much as I program the D-50, Jupiter and Juno-1. The CZ series has 8 stage ENVs which are interesting to program. I can also post the CZ data info if anyone is interested in the patch used here. :) TSF
