If you actually listen, he didn't just threaten to assault the reporter, he threatened to murder him. He said "If I put this up your.. you know, yer butt *giggle like a psychopath* you'll find out how effective it is *intimidating stare* when WE put a round up yer.. you know *cut off*"... no matter how you look at it, the threat was for a ROUND to be "put up" his ass.. in other words, he threatened to shove the rifle up the man's butt and pull the trigger.. in other words, murder.
