What connects an Inuit, an annoying sea gull, a big amount of cans with tomato sauce, a sinking ship and global warming?
Joe, the Eskimo lives his lonesome and isolated, but routined and content life in the neverending Arctic. However, one day while he is fishing he stumbles upon a bunch of swimming boxes with tomato sauce, coming from a freighter that crashed into an iceberg. This leads to an unfortunate chain of events. Cracks in the ice, an annoying sea gull, growing trash piles are just foreshadowing an incredible catastrophe.
"Joe Eskimo" was produced as bachelor project of Wolfram Gruss, Mario Tran phuc and Max Riess at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt and financially supported by the Hessian Film Board. The awarded short film was also screened at the Berlinale 2009.
Thank you for this upload! It's a great animation! I won't forget my anger and disappointment at the global warming international conference of Montreal back in 2006, when, the representatives of Inuit and other nations claimed their rights of hunting and fishing when the whole world was urging each of us for changing habits and traditions(and still does!)
