  • Wilson is a living example of religious brain-washing. He's an intelligent, articulate man who is made to sound ridiculous and petty thanks to childish, unbelievable, archaic ideas on which he is basing his argument. Painful to hear an otherwise intelligent person sounding so confused and disreputable.

  • haha. 2:10-2:30 Hitchens doesn't even bother to argue with WIlson's absurdity.

  • @BER2ERKER cont. they literally are

invisible, or practically speaking, they are black like empty space is.

  • @weilim10 Yeah, it's a weird thing. Basically it is an infinitely dense point or "singularity". The "hole" idea comes from the "well" it creates in space-time. It's an infinitely dense point of ultra mass, that creates (depending on mass) a certain sized horizon. So yeah, it's not nothingness; but we really don't know WTF they are, so even that description is acceptable. Color-wise, they are simply invisible. Since color is just an effect within our brains, if no light escapes them, they litera

  • Leonard Susskind's book, "The Black Hole War", is great for learning a basic understanding of black holes. The easiest way to see their effect on space-time is to look at the analogy that uses the perspective of two people (one going towards the horizon, and the other staying at a distance watching the other). The reason for the past/future effect is because time literally

seems to stop, because a black hole creates an infinite "well" in space-time. They are time machines, quite literally.

  • It just took me 2 seconds to figure out how to draw the black hole seeing into the future and the past at the same time, just draw a circle (it represents time) put a mirror somewhere threw it and put a hole in the middle of the mirror, this way you would be in the black hole and you could both see the future (what's on the other side of the mirror, more of the circle) threw the hole, and at the same time you could see the past by looking around the hole of the mirror. :).

  • @playingdablues Indoctrination is a helluva' drug.

  • Based on A Brief History of Time...

Black hole isn't a big black nothingness. It's a sun with enough gravitational force to absorb photons aka light. It's spherical and might not be black at all...

  • The difference between them is their target audience. Its is quite evident with Wilson's "argument of 210-230 " Its caters to the ignorance of people. Its a case of if I cant understand it then its stupid, when it is really the other way around you ARE stupid therefore you cant understand it.

  • @playingdablues What an eloquent statement, my sentiment exactly.

  • 6.54 - 7.01 is why you shouldn't trust a too devoted Christian. He said; murder is ok if God ok's it. Ask said person if that is the halmark of a moral person. Or even a halmark for a humble person also, that he can stand above others to kill. The fact that he also later admits to be "happy to say it" should make any moral human being on this planet revolt in dislike.

7.29 - 7.32. True. But it doesn't matter. All that matters is what we think. We don't need the universe approval for that!

  • @bayreuth79 hey happy new year mate!

no my point was that its not a question of 100% certainty one way or the other, but rather if you lean one way you might as well call yourself that which you lean toward. you dont have to be 100% sure that god exists to be a christian, and to bring up the old example of unicorns, you wouldnt say you think its 50/50 that they do exist, just because you cant prove they dont.
