Good video, but I have flown aircraft for many years, and I find that dual rates and exponential tend to be rather over-rated in utility for an experienced pilot. Once you know your aircraft well and have developed a high level of control skill, your hands and brain together provide the overwhelming majority of control rate adjustment. It's handy to use exponential on an engine throttle because engine speed is nearly exponential to the carburetor venturi setting, but that's about it for me.

god video man..

This is very helpful. Thanks for the graphical explanation. I'm a newbie to rc heli and an engineer so the graphs really speak to me much clearer than the manual. I have a blade 120 SR and a DX6i so I have been searching for a baseline settings. When are they going to come up with a wearable helmet transmitter that includes a gyro, accelerometer? Except that the throttle still has to be hand-held.

high, thank you so much for these videos, i had a small understanding of these before, but this really helped. But if i had, say 50% dual rate, and 100% expo, would that input move the servo on the expo line (the curve), but stop half-way through because its on 50% dual rate?
-
What about the expo percentage? what curve will be with 25% and after 75% for example!? Thanks

So helpful

thank you so much it makes so much sense

Thank you,I understand EXPO now.

I have to say being an experienced RC pilot that your videos are simple and true, on how the inputs on the TX are communicating with outputs of the RX. On exponential another way to put it is that the servo lags the input on the TX and then at a certain point in the curve the servo will catch up to the input being made on the TX. You give beginners very good insight on basic TX programming keep it up.

Thank you for your time gonna save money for my DX6i
Very good and substantial explanations of DR and Expo. I am a beginner and you saved me lots of "Go RTFM" type answers from snobbish "gurus". Thanks for your efforts doing these presentations. I will spread your word)))))

@zifir4ik Thank you so much! I know we're high time into summer, so my time is limited, but I do have a list of more materials such as this to go over. Thanks for the compliments!

Is this importantant for learning 3D flying?
Hummel1977 10 months ago
@Hummel1977 Expo and Dual Rates are important for any type of flying! For 3D, we typically use two rates, and high ones at that to get those control surfaces really moving, but also a bit of expo for those fine tuned movements. In the end, your mileage may vary as to how much expo or rate switching you like - remember they're just tools, you don't have to use them if they don't do anything for you.

Thank you for this very informative and well made video. I'm new to RCs and this video helped explain a lot about features on my DX6i.
Well done!
