Yet, another incident of RACISM in Lethbridge, Alberta. I read this article from the Lethbridge Herald and thought I should share it.

  • I had a lot racist experience in UofC and in Edmonton. I suffered a lot there for 7 yrs, and then I came back to Toronto. I am happy and lucky now because of those problem I became a disable person. As a result, I receive disability benefit, a lot of free money to school, free drugs and so many things. I have a all the new gadgets, nice appliances, and I travel a lot. Plus, their racists discrimination made me much smarter and stronger. I thanks God that I had this experience in Alberta.

  • Racism? maybe they were just upset about the fact that the native kids in the University of Lethbridge all got in for free while the non native kids had to pay. Or maybe they were mad because they didn't get free houses or that their parents payed taxes while the "Native Elders" didn't have to?

  • As criminal gangs attracted by the Alberta Advantage become more active in the area hate groups have increased. These individuals are abusive and split along racial lines. They attack as they have made note that no effective reaction appears to take place in law enforcement. The refusal of services and refusal to impose rules governing racist/ sexist behavior at schools and universities creates a vacuum. Polarization & propaganda creates a smoke screen or deflection.

  • Racism is turning into the "trump all card" if you're a minority and someone offends you, you can play the racism card and that's that. Even if the person that has offended you is not in the least bit racist. As long as people keep playing that card the issue of racism isn't going to go away. People don't like it when other people have special privileges because of race or ethnicity. There has to be pure equality before the issue of racism will go away.

  • If the U of L were having a Celtic languages symposium I'm sure the same jokers would have done the exact same thing. I'm not a racist, I'm a christian that believes we are all children of the same God, but even I have been accused of being racist in the past for obscure reasons. I think sometimes the issue is not racism, but racially sensitive people that are easily offended, and take every offense as a racial hate crime.

  • southern alberta is one of the most openly racist places in western canada towards native americans and the is just one example of it. racism is everywhere but i get sick of it when it is so openly practiced. so my point is there is a discomnatory comfort(they(anyone who is racist) feel more power when rasicm is openly practiced) towards native americans especially but not limited to in southern alberta.

  • It is unfortunate that those of ignorant and childish demeanor have besmirched and stained those proceedings and the reputation of a center of higher learning, for those who are supposed to be adults. The offenders should be sent back to grade school and forced to take classes in "growing up allready".

  • most racists that are in the community of Lethbridge , ab come from other provinces, where that kind of behavior is accepted ie; Saskatchewan, Newfoundland and various other east coast provinces,

i know this cause, non-natives i would run into at jobs and at schools would talk about this sort of thing, and would add that the native study program at the UofL opened their eyes to see beyond their instilled ignorance
