Learn how to make a cheap fake head for $10-$15 in this special effects tutorial. We modified the Indy Mogul recipe to make it cheaper and look better.

We bought a couple styrofoam mannequin wig head from a local costume shop (Parties Plus), applied some liquid latex to make it paintable, spray painted it with some pale-flesh-colored spray paint, applied some Halloween makeup, and some fake blood to top it off. We recommend hollowing it out before applying the latex and spraypaint...lesson learned on our part. Also, we were going to put a balloon filled with fake blood for a brain, but it was too slick to tie off the balloon and then the balloon popped. So, we ended up just putting fake blood in a Ziploc bag. It gave a nice Borderlands Island of Dr Ned flying brain effect.

Check out or Zombie Nightmare Shootout video to see it in action as a pool of blood, dripping blood, and even a zombie brain! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kbzopM4wDE

  • @asznam Pretty much...one day we'll make one that looks better.

  • no need to make a fake head if you are gonna shoot the shotgun. just put there a bag with blood and draw a smile on it. nothing remains after the shot anyway.

  • @lethalchickenent Yeah, we got the idea from IngyMogul's BFX. We weren't sure how it was going to turn out...it kinda looked like crap, so we made the zombie video more of a dream sequence for a better chance of getting away with it. We may revisit this at a later date using what we learned.

  • @billhaley1868 The last shot was with a Browning 12ga Silver Stalker, thanks for swinging by!

  • could've used that for our zombie flick we just shot

  • Next time try blasting it with a shotgun!

    Great vid!
