In 1941, Shadow Comics introduced the original Dead End Kids in comic strip form. Altogether, the gang made at least 4 featured appearances in issues that year. All featured crude but decidedly inspired caricatures of Leo Gorcey, Huntz Hall, Billy Halop, Bobby Jordan, Gabriel Dell and Bernard Punsly that were drawn by obscure comic artist Lafe Thomas. The comic book installments were quite an oddity for 1941, seeing as by that time the original Dead End Kids had already left Warner Bros. and, in fact, had splintered into the Dead End Kids/Little Tough Guys at Universal and the East Side Kids at Monogram!
This is cool!!

Thanks for posting this, if there were more in a series it would be great to see if a publisher lIke IDW or Dark Horse would reprint these strips

Totally cool! Many thanks for finding this rarity and making the video and posting on YouTube. The music is great--what is the name of it and who is the orchestra? Really a top notch vidoe- even the sound effects- punching, back ground talking- awesome job! Wonder how much those old comics are worth today?
