you'd think with sheldon as the drummer, there would be some shins music in big bang theory...

There's a great tradition of a main artist performing with different line ups under a band type moniker. Eels, Bright Eyes, Iron Maiden, The Fall.

The reasons for line up changes are mixed, sometimes fall outs, some times just stylistic changes and so on and it can both dilute or bring fresh life to a project. It certainly isn't automatically a bad thing.

Personally I think Mercer's music is still good though I agree that it doesn't quite hit the heights of the original line up.

Anyone else hear traces of Caribou's Yeti in the intro to this?

That intro chord is fab. My read on it is 0-7-9-7/h9-X-X, where you hammer on quickly at the D string, 7th fret. Can anybody improve on that?

Loved the old band (especially the guitar player who really got into it), but I must confess, this collection of musicians (esp. the cool chic on the sweet vintage Silvertone Galaxy guitar) look a lot more like I'd imagine the Shins to look--very mod/60's... They also play tight as hell. Mercer's a fabulous songwriter. Keep it up!!!
